Everyone is welcome to these events. Entry is free to fully paid up members of HRAA and Gardening club members, but there will be a small entrance fee for non-members.

Past events

15th December 2011 Gardening club Social and ‘craft’ evening – making a candle table decoration for the Christmas Dinner Table.

23rd July 2011, visit to local garden and social event (gardening club).

12th June 2011, on site social event and coffee morning, 10.30am - 12pm. Plant bring and buy sale and general fundraiser.

19th May 2011, 19.30 - 21.30 Gardening club in the Free Church Hall which is downstairs. The topic for now is 'An Open Meeting for Q&A, Plant Identification, Cultural Tips and general exchange of Garden News'. We also hope on that evening to advise details of other forthcoming events / activities.

28th March 2011, 7.30pm, Free Church. A community 'interest meeting' has arranged by Robin Bletsoe under the auspices of HRAA, with the aim of establishing a gardening club in St Ives, for those people with an interest in horticulture, but who are not allotment tenants. 25th March 2011, 7.30pm, Cromwell Room, St Ives Corn Exchange

'Vegetable varieties today' by Mike Day, National Institute of Agricultural Botany. Mike Day is an external expert who is based at NIAB in Cambridge. You can find further details of Mike's background here: link.

11th February 2011 Guide to the National Society of Association & Leisure Gardeners, and other allotment matters by Karen Kenny, NSALG Eastern Region rep.

6th February 2011 On-site walkabout and social event focusing on pruning and fruit tree care.

19th January 2011 'Introduction to beekeeping' by Allan Lewis

19th October 2010 AGM Annual General Meeting in dining hall of St Ivo School, High Leys.

14th August 2010 Drop in at the Corn Exchange on the morning of Saturday 14th August

11th September 2010 Flower and Produce show in the Corn Exchange, For further details see 'Produce Show' page.

Spring 2010 Outdoor event 16th May 2010, coffee morning and build for wildlife day.

Winter 2009/10 Outdoor meeting - Sunday 7th February 2010 'Practical fruit tree care and pruning' demonstration by Bob Lever of East of England Apples and Orchards Project. This was great fun. You can see a couple of photos on the 'News' page.

Autumn 2009 Social meeting - Friday December 11th, 7.30pm. Talk on "Weeds and weed identification on the allotment" in the Free Church, Market Hill. Speakers, Denise Ginsburg & Sarah Cook from ADAS.

Notes from previous meetings

Our meeting on March 13th 2009 was a great success, where guest speaker Selwyn Richardson talked about compost and soil management on the allotment.
